WFNHP Honors Representative Jon Richards as 2013 Healthcare Advocate of the Year

MILWAUKEE, WI--The Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals honored State Representative Jon Richards as their 2013 Healthcare Advocate of the Year last night.

"There was no question in our minds when it came to honoring our Healthcare Advocate of the Year," said Candice Owley, RN, WFNHP president. "Representative Richards is not only a true champion for quality healthcare for the citizens of Wisconsin, but also for safe working conditions for the direct care providers in our communities."

President Owley presented the award stating, "Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals Honors Representative Jon Richards 2013 Healthcare Advocate of the Year: For your leading role in the fight for quality healthcare for all Wisconsinites. In 2013, you not only led the fight to expand BadgerCare/Medicaid, but also sponsored "Quality Care Agenda" legislation that addresses critical problems in the healthcare industry, including: banning mandatory overtime practices, instituting safe staffing ratios, ensuring safe patient handling and preventing workplace violence."
