MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals will hold a press conference today, May 5th, to release a new survey of Milwaukee-area nurses.  The survey of over 1,500 registered nurses who work in Milwaukee-area hospitals and other healthcare facilities revealed that the healthcare delivery system has major problems with safety and quality for both patients and nurses.  Today's nurses are working short staffed, often faced with forced overtime and without being relieved to even get a meal period.  The results of these employment practices are wide-spread concerns about the negative impact on patient care.  The survey was conducted during the month of April 2008.

Details of the survey will be released at a press conference at 5pm at Alverno College, the site of this year's Nurses Day Celebration.
