By now, you all know the Supreme Court voted to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA), often referred to as Obamacare.

The good news is all of the rules putting more control over health insurance practices will stay in place. Children up to age 26 will continue to be covered, and preventive care must continue to be covered at 100%. The bad news is, Governor Walker is saying he will refuse to implement the full law and is awaiting the results of the fall elections. Even his own Attorney General has said he must implement the plan or be in violation of the law. We have also heard talk that Wisconsin might be one of the states that votes to end Medicaid (BadgerCare), which would be devastating for hundreds of thousands of citizens, and also be a huge financial loss for hospitals, such as St. Francis.

To understand what has happened, the impact on our members, families and employers, we have scheduled a special educational presentation by a staff member of Citizen Action, Kevin Kane, on Monday, July 16th at 6:30pm following our state legislative committee meeting.
