Ascension Wisconsin announced that they were closing all labor and delivery services at St. Francis Hospital, the only labor and delivery services on the southside of Milwaukee, effective just days before Christmas 2022. We think this was a devastating and heartless decision, especially for the LatinX and immigrant community we serve. Every person deserves the right to safe, accessible, essential care in their community, and should not be forced to travel 15-20 minutes when every minute could mean the difference between life and death.
