Wisconsin Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals
President Candice Owley in Support of the Strengthen BadgerCare Act
MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals President Candice Owley released the following statement in support of the Strengthen BadgerCare Act.
“Every day nurses and healthcare workers see the personal and financial devastation to families caused by lack of affordable healthcare coverage, and that is why the Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals is in strong support of the Strengthen BadgerCare Act introduced by Senator John Erpenbach and Representative Jon Richards.”
“Families without health coverage face both financial disaster, plus the constant threat of having their lives and careers ended by serious medical conditions. Too often nurses working in emergency rooms see patients who have delayed care because they could not afford to get early treatment. The Strengthen BadgerCare Act will provide the security families deserve by requiring Wisconsin to accept the federal money to fill the holes in BadgerCare.”
“It is time for Governor Walker to do the right thing and accept the federal dollars for Medicaid expansion. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, Wisconsin will get $12 billion to fill the holes in BadgerCare. It would be a tragedy for Wisconsin families for the Governor to reject these federal dollars. Governor Walker needs to side with Wisconsin families and not big insurance companies.”
