RC 43 TRIF-ic News is the newsletter of NYSUT Retiree Council 43, Teacher Retirees In Florida. It is published bi-monthly, September - August.
NYSUT RETIREE GOALS
1. Work to keep pensions secure and to improve COLA.
2. Work with in-service members and the community to secure access to affordable health benefits for all retired members.
3. Work to enrich the lives of retiree members through educational and social activities.
4. Continue to organize, represent, advocate for and provide services for retired members.
5. Work with in-service members to promote collective bargaining, political action,
better education and improved health care working conditions.
6. Work for positive socioeconomic societal changes.
7. To defend income security (including Social Security and Medicare) for all retired workers.
A&R has another impact bargaining agreement coming before the legislature on May 17. We have 9 titles which cover 58 employees that have unionized and been accepted by the State Labor Board to join A&R. The agreement will be brought to the Appropriations Committee on May 17th as House Resolution 32 (HR32) and Senate Resolution 33 (SR33). If both of these agreements pass the Appropriations Committee, they will be put to the floor of the full House and the full Senate. Our annual Healthcare Open Enrollment period has arrived. This is the brief window of opportunity to change your Medical or Dental plan for the upcoming year (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020). The Open Enrollment period begins on May 6 and ends on May 31.
If you wish to make a change, you must notify HR/Payroll for your agency and they will make the change.
