H1N1 Vaccine Update
Print E-mail

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have announced the final licensing approval for the influenza A (H1N1) 2009 monovalent vaccine. A limited amount of vaccine will be available for distribution as early as October 2nd. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will continue weekly deliveries thereafter to immunization sites approved by state health departments. The CDC anticipates as many as 90,000 sites nationwide in both private and public facilities, including schools. The CDC encourages high-risk individuals such as pregnant women, children and young adults ages 5-24, healthcare workers, and people with underlying health conditions to be immunized early on. Others are asked to wait until later in the year to receive the vaccine.
